Seeing the reality
I have read quite a bit about spiritual literature. My favorite is " I AM THAT" by Nisargadatta. In it HE explains that you are that which is beyond any expression. Sometimes I feel I get it. But here is the catch. The feeling is in the mind. And just realizing, that the truth, that who you are, is not any way connected to words and images.
I dont know what will come out of this search. But for sure sometime I had this realization that I am not anything that can be referred as. Everything, including the body and mind changes. There is a changeless thing behind all these. That is "I AM".
Now, that brought in me a calmness and accepting things totally as they are. In between, feelings and emotions arise. But, when asked to whom these arise, the answer is always body - mind nexus. But, there is still the me, who just watches. Does nothing else...I see the futility of words and actions. They seems to just happen.
As of now, I am hanging on to the "I AM"..The vehicle or path.
There is a beautiful song - "Atmashtakam"
Mano budhya ahankara chithaa ninaham,
Na cha srothra jihwe na cha graana nethrer,
Na cha vyoma bhoomir na thejo na vayu,
Chidananada Roopa Shivoham, Shivoham.
Na cha praana samgno na vai pancha vaayur,
Na vaa saptha dhathur na va pancha kosa,
Na vak pani padam na chopa stha payu,
Chidananada Roopa Shivoham, Shivoham.
Na me dwesha raghou na me lobha mohou,
Madho naiva me naiva matsarya bhava,
Na dharmo na cha artha na kamo na moksha,
Chidananada Roopa Shivoham, Shivoham.
Na punyam na paapam na soukhyam na dukham,
Na manthro na theertham na veda na yagna,
Aham bhojanam naiva bhojyam na bhoktha,
Chidananada Roopa Shivoham, Shivoham.
Na mruthyur na sankha na me jathi bhedha,
Pitha naiva me naiva matha na janma,
Na bhandhur na mithram gurur naiva sishya,
Chidananada Roopa Shivoham, Shivoham.
Aham nirvi kalpi nirakara roopi,
Vibhuthwascha sarvathra sarvendriyanaam,
Na cha sangatham naiva mukthir na meya
Chidananada Roopa Shivoham, Shivoham.
