Seva & Ego

It is extremely hard, not to feel elated when one does good Seva. However, the purpose of Seva itself is to go beyond the ego. What is ego - It is the feeling that I am separate from the entire universe. So ego is not just the feeling whether I did good or great, it is the feeling that I am separate. In that sense, we all have egos. Most of us take the word ego to mean "self boasting". But the true meaning of ego in vedanta is "Separation".

So it is tricky. While doing Seva, it is important at all time to be able to aware that you are not doing anything. The action is happening through this body at a given time and place. There is no one doing it. Once you see this, there is no question of feeling elated or feeling depressed. Then, there is no difference between any work you do. Your office work, your house hold duties, everything is Seva. Or everything is your household work!!!. There is no judegement, no fingerpointing, and every thing is fine as they are. Then the accepting people and situations as they are just happens. You dont do it. I dont know any thing beyond that...
